Dr Martin Murphy - Chairman

Martin represents MVM Life Science Ltd on the Serentis board and was instrumental in founding the company.  Martin joined MVM in November 2002.  He was previously with 3i plc where he was a member of the healthcare investment team.  Prior to that, he was an Engagement Manager with McKinsey & Company based in London and Mumbai.  Martin has a degree in Biochemistry (Oxford) and completed a PhD (Cambridge) in Molecular Biology in 1994. In addition to Serentis, Martin is a member of the boards of Argenta Discovery Ltd., Healthcare Brands International Ltd., Heptares Therapeutics Ltd., PregLem SA and Vantia Therapeutics Ltd.

Dr Martin Edwards - Director

Martin represents Novo A/S on the Serentis board. Martin joined Novo A/S in 2003 as a Partner working out of London. In addition to Serentis, he is chairman of the boards of directors of Symphogen A/S and Thiakis Limited, and a director of Funxional Therapeutics Ltd and Logical Therapeutics Inc. Prior to Novo A/S, Martin was CEO of ReNeuron Holdings and Corporate V.P and Head of Drug Development for Novo Nordisk A/S. Previously, he worked in USA first as VP Pharmacology and Medical Affairs of ZymoGenetics, Inc. and then as Senior VP for Medical Affairs at Novo Nordisk. Martin graduated from Manchester University with degrees in physiology and medicine. He subsequently trained in general medicine, family practice and pharmaceutical medicine and holds several post graduate medical diplomas awarded by the London Royal Colleges. He also holds an MBA from Warwick University.

Dr Allan Marchington - Director

Allan is responsible for Apposite's Life Sciences investments.  A partner at Apposite since its inception, Allan is a well-known entrepreneur and executive in the pharmaceuticals sector. Previously Allan was at Abingworth Management, where he was acting as an Entrepreneur in Residence. Allan joined Abingworth in 2003 from Millennium Pharmaceuticals, Cambridge Mass., where as a member of the senior management team he was responsible for Millennium's European activities and all of the company's technology investments. Prior to Millennium, he was principal founder and CEO of Cambridge Combinatorial, a combinatorial chemistry company that was acquired by Millennium for a substantial multiple of invested capital. Before setting up Cambridge Combinatorial, Allan worked for 7 years in a range of therapeutic areas at Pfizer, Sandwich. He has a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Liverpool. In addition to Serentis, Allan is also a member of the board of Ambrx Inc., Ambit Inc. and Pharmakodex Ltd.

Bill Blair - Director

Bill Blair is the CEO of Adamant Ventures Limited based in Edinburgh. Prior to joining Adamant in April 2008, Bill was an Investment Director of Scottish Widows Investment Partnership (SWIP) focusing on life sciences private equity. Previously, Bill was head of European research at SWIP, managing a team of fund managers and analysts responsible for SWIP’s European public equity portfolio.  He joined SWIP in 2001 from Nomura International where he was head of pharmaceutical research. Prior to joining Nomura, Bill was head of the pharmaceutical team and a Director at Robert Fleming Securities. Bill’s investment career began in 1986 when he joined Bell Lawrie White as a pharmaceutical analyst.  Between 1993 and 1997 he was a Director at Greig Middleton responsible for managing the pharmaceutical team. Bill was previously a member of the LSE TechMark Technology Assessment Group.
